Raul Danny Vargas has been appointed as the new Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce's chairman. He will replace Justin Exner.
Vargas is the first Hispanic to chair a traditional chamber of commerce in the history of Virginia, according to a release from the chamber.
He is currently a member of the chamber's board of directors, has served as vice president of marketing and chairman of the communications committee, and has been active in promoting Hispanic businesses in Northern Virginia.
Vargas, president and owner of a public relations consulting firm, will officially take the position at a chamber luncheon on July 11. Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell (R) will be the keynote speaker.
Chamber President Eileen Curtis, said in a statement that it is "appropriate and exciting" that Vargas will serve as chairman.
