Danny Vargas is tired of hearing about the stereotypes
Washington Business Journal -
March 11, 2005... Danny Vargas is
tired of hearing about the stereotypes, and he might
take to the airwaves to prove his point.
The president of
marketing consulting firm VARCom Solutions (http://www.varcom.com/)
is in discussions with TV stations about producing a
program to highlight the business accomplishments of
local Hispanics.
"I've been here 14
years, and I've seen things change considerably," says
Vargas. "But there's still a negative impression ...
that views Hispanics as uneducated and that they're only
in this country to take menial jobs ... The majority ...
are hard-working with a strong entrepreneurial drive."
Others are starting to
wise up to those contributions. The Fairfax County
Economic Development Authority (http://www.fairfaxcountyeda.org/)
touts the fact that 12 companies in the county were
named to Hispanic Business magazine's list of the 500
largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the nation. [Joe
